All Ohio Excluded Gambler Winnings / Jackpots to go towards Problem Gambling Funds

In States that have legalized casino gambling, problem gamblers can join a self exclusion list. This list is intended to prevent problem gamblers access to casinos. In Ohio, as in many states, problem gamblers may still gamble in casinos they are banned from since most casinos do not have procedures in place to prevent them from entering the casino. If a problem gambler in Ohio goes to a casino they are excluded from entering and hits a taxable jackpot, the casino would realize at that point that they are on the exclusion list and the jackpot would be forfieted. Currently, casinos/racinos in Ohio governed by the Ohio Lottery Comission are not required to turn excluded gambler winnings/jackpots over to Problem Gambling funds. Casino/Racinos not run by the Ohio Lottery Comission already donate excluded gambler winnings to Problem Gambling funds. By signing this petition, you are asking the State of Ohio and the Ohio Lottery Comission to mandate that any winnings/jackpots won by Ohio exluded gambers be turned over to fund programs to help Problem Gambers. By not having this protocol in place, there is no incentive for casinos/racinos to prevent problem gamblers from playing in their establishments. In fact, it only increases the casino/racino's profits, because they are currently allowed to void the excluded gambler's winnings/jackpots.
By signing this petition, you are asking the State of Ohio and the Ohio Lottery Comission to mandate that any winnings/jackpots won by any Ohio exluded gambers, at all Ohio casinos and racinos, be directed to fund programs that help problem gamblers.
