Albany has a noise ordinance in place which prohibits unreasonable noise primarily between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Police may issue appearance tickets to or even arrest violators.
Fines range up to $250 and/or fifteen days in jail for repeat or serious violators. We would like to extend that ordinance to a 24 hour law which includes cars with loud sound systems that are excessive (where the whole neighborhood can hear them) as well as motorcycle modified exhaust pipes.
