Dear Secretary Clinton:

On May 9th, 2010, a tragedy among tragedies happened in Iran. Five innocent people were hanged without a trial. These individuals were not told why they were arrested, had no access to their lawyers, and were given a total of six minutes in trial before they were found guilty of “something.” Their names are: Farzad Kamangar, Shirin Alam-Hooli, Farhad Vakili, Ali Heydarian, and Mehdi Eslamian. One victim, Mr. Kamangar, was a schoolteacher. His hanging on May 9th was a double blow because May 9th is “teacher’s day” in Iran. This was also a mighty tribute to the mother’s of the five victims who were given the news that their children were murdered on Mother’s Day.

Mrs. Secretary, today our question for you is this: how many more? How many more have to die needlessly before the U.S. adopts strict and realistic policies against an illegitimate government that is holding its people hostage? You are always talking about “sanctions” and “talks” with Iran. How long must the talking and useless sanctions go on and how many more have to die before you take action by putting specific pressure on the government? The present illegitimate government of Iran is a direct threat to democratic countries around the world.

We, the undersigned, request that you take decisive and realistic action against the Iranian government before it gets its hands on nuclear weapons, before it kills more innocent people, and before our liberty as Americans is threatened. Dictatorship and evil is a threat not only to those directly under its poison, but also to those watching and doing nothing.
