The Welsh Government's Planning Inspectorate is forcing Wrexham Council to build 11,000 homes over the coming 12 years. This new Local Development Plan will mean building huge sprawling estates on greenfield sites, including 1500 homes on the rugby club/Morgan Llwyd playing fields and 1260 on the Lower Berse Farm on the Ruthin Road.

This is based on unrealistic and unsustainable population projections that would make Wrexham the fastest growing area of Wales outside Cardiff.

Our services - health, schools, transport and social services - are already stretched to breaking point due to UK Government cuts. This increase in housing would make matters worse.

We, the undersigned, call on the Welsh Government to re-think its population projections and allow Wrexham Council to develop a realistic plan that reflects the needs of the communities it serves.
