Target: Glasgow City Council
Region: United Kingdom
Web site: http://www.oran-mor.co.uk
Background (Preamble):
Oran Mor are committed to re-instating its North Garden on Great Western Road as well as respecting and enhancing the natural environment.
The main objective is to provide the best possible service for our customers and in this case, specifically the many brides who are wed here each year in that they may be photographed in the Garden at Oran Mor.
When Oran Mor purchased the former Kelvinside Parish Church as a derelict building it was in the knowledge that the North and West Gardens had been compulsory purchased for the purpose of creating underpasses to the Botanic Garden Railway Station. After the scheme was abandoned the West Garden was returned to the Church which is now the Garden on Byres Road.
It has always been the intention of Oran Mor to re-instate the North Garden on Great Western Road back into the original footprint of the property.
The trees will not be disturbed or moved in any way and the pavement that will be re-established will be wider than existing Byres Road pavement and also wider than the busy Kelvinway Subway exit pavement.
Colin Beattie of Oran Mor "Queues that form on Great Western Road for the many events and productions that Oran Mor provides will be accommodated within the garden, eliminating overspill into the public realm. Oran Mor continues in its quest to enhance the building and facilities it has to offer. The commissioning of the 'Patter', a bronze park bench with Billy Connolly & Chic Murray in conversation is being well received and will be a major feature of the North Garden."
Mr Beattie continues " We have the utmost regard for the responsibility that goes with owning and maintaining the integrity of this fine 'B' listed building that forms an integral and important feature of the architectural landscape of the 'West End' which will still be here long after we are gone."

Petition:
We the undersigned support Oran Mor's bid to have the North Garden reinstated on Great Western Road, thus enhancing and restoring the former Church to its original glory and so that brides will be able to be photographed outside the venue where they are being wed.
