Target:
The Office of The Honourable Prime Minister of Australia
Region:
Australia

Over the last three months Australia has experienced some of it's worst weather events in recorded history. These events have devastated many communities and remote families.

Australian Defence Forces have been used in a small capacity to help search and rescue operations and clean up in SE QLD but the damage is far reaching and our present civilian and defence resources are spread thin across Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.

Bringing home the troops and their hardware will enable a strong and widespread recover operation to proceed.

Defence expenditure will be focused on disaster recovery.

The well being and peace of mind of Australian Defence Force families will benefit directly through family members being removed from combat duty.

To The Honourable Prime Minister of Australia,

Please bring our troops home to help rebuild Australia in the aftermath of wide spread flooding throughout Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland and Cyclone Yasi.

The Australian Defence Forces efforts to rebuild Afghanistan have been invaluable.

However, at this time of national crisis within Australia, all available defence assets would be more prudently deployed in the reconstruction of this country.

Australian Defence Force families, particularly those in Queensland, are now trying to cope with the trauma of recent events as well as their loved ones being repeatedly deployed to combat duty in Afghanistan.

Bringing our troops home to help rebuild Australia will relieve exhausted volunteers, depleting community resources and services and lighten the emotional stress of effected communities.

We, the undersigned, respectfully request your consideration of this action.
