Concordia University in Montreal has denied prayer space request in the EV building saying they lack the space and the building was built to be used exclusively as a research and teaching building with no space to be used for student activities.

We feel that the requirement to pray 4 to 5 times a day for the Muslim faith is not a student activity but a spiritual need.

We feel that it is a right and responsibility of Concordia to try and accommodate their needs (section 18.1 of Concordia's rights and responsibilities) and does not meet with our TRAC collective agreement on the issue of freedom of religion.

We, the undersigned, call on Concordia University to respond favourably to the request for prayer space in the EV building.

We feel that the requirement of daily prayer is not a student activity but a religious requirement and as such meets the definition of the Rights and Responsibilities that Concordia has agreed to.

Please sign this petition if you are in agreement.

Thank you.
