The Blackalls Park Reserve is popular with people who live and exercise in the area. Dog owners regularly exercise their dogs in the leash free area provided by LMCC. Unfortunately the area entry is unsafe due to the constant breaking of the speed limit by cars.
In spite of speed limit signs of 10kmp the majority of traffic using the Park Avenue entry do so at a dangerous speed and are putting pedestrians who walk beside the road at risk.
We the undersigned call on Lake Macquarie City Council to provide speed humps or other traffic calming devices in Park Avenue at the approach to the Blackalls Park Reserve.
Such devices need to be designed to limit the speed of cars using the shared pedestrian area.
