Kanehsatake Membership demands a special Membership meeting

The present Board of Directors of the Kanehsatake Health Center has convinced itself that it is not accountable to the membership for its actions and decisions which include:

- the presence on the Board of two "interim" appointees who have no legitimacy as of October 26 ( the last Annual General Meeting);

- the denial of rights to seats on the Board of a new Director of Social Services and community representation by election of the membership;

- the cancellation without notice or explanation of membership elections at a "special membership meeting" of the Board that had been resolved and passed by a majority vote of members;

- the illegal "suspension" of the Executive Director of the Kanehsatake Health Center by the Board of Directors;

- threats made to Health Center staff by a certain Board member in violation of staff labour and civil rights;

- failure by the Board and individual directors to abide by its's own policies and procedures, to uphold legal obligations, or to act "in the best interests" of the membership and the community as a whole.
