The Senate has before it H.R. 847, the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010. The House of Representatives passed this bill on Sep. 29, 2010. The Senate on Dec. 9, 2010 voted and the bill was NOT passed.

This bill provides extended protection and services to those EMS/Fire/Police Responders who have been sickened by the toxins they were exposed to in the surrounding areas after the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Providing care for these responders should be our PRIMARY priority.

We, the undersigned, call on the Senate of the United States to immediately pass the Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act. We are Paramedics, Emergency Medical Technicians, Firefighters, Police Officers, First Responders, Public Safety Officers and others who support this bill.

We sacrifice daily to protect our community. The responders to the World Trade Center on 9/11 didn't hesitate to give everything they had to save as many victims as possible, and to recover those who had perished. We OWE those who are now sickened the best care the United States has to offer. We DEMAND that these self-sacrificing public servants get the funding that is needed NOW.
