We are appealing to Solar BC to fund the purchase and installation of a solar panel at our school to reduce our reliance on conventional and/or fossil energy sources.
Why Solar?
Solar panels are a cost and energy effective method of reducing fossil energy source dependency; which are harmful to the environment and our health and are limited in supply
Solar panels require little to no upkeep, are durable and can be easily relocated if need be
Solar panels do not release greenhouse gases, carcinogens or carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and are the only renewable energy source that is completely silent
To demonstrate, to our community and our school, the need to transition away from fossil energy sources and towards a sustainable future within the West Shore and globally
To redefine Belmont’s image in the community and establish ourselves as a sustainability leader.
We, the students and staff of Belmont Secondary School, represent diverse interests and priorities.
We come from different walks of life {academic, athletic, debate society, environmental, grad committee, leadership, music, theatre, visual arts}; but we are united in our desire to make our a school a more sustainable and environmentally conscious community.
