The proposal in mid-November, 2010 to delay the withdrawal of American forces from 2011 to 2014 is not acceptable to the American public. It is a plan for four more years of combat by US and NATO forces. It is costing more than $100 billion per year and our leaders admit that there is no military solution.
The Afghan people resent our occupation and they should. We can create better international relations and spend those vast sums of money here at home.
We object to the United States proposal for Afghanistan being presented the week of November 15, 2010 to NATO ministers. It is not a peace plan.
We call upon President Obama to keep his pledge to withdraw all US troops from Iraq by the end of 2011 and to announce a substantial troop reduction from Afghanistan in 2011 with a complete phase-out in two years.
