Iron ore exploration in the proposed Limmen National Park. A minerals exploration company says it has found large deposits of iron ore near the coast of the Gulf of Carpentaria and wants to develop a mine in the area. This land is potential habitat for Carpentarian Rock Rats and Gouldian Finches both endangered species. At least 100km of roads into the park have been cleared.

Plans are in place to build a slurry pipeline and processing plant to take ore into the gulf of Carpentaria and a new port is proposed in a listed ecosystem. Just what we need another huge mine on pristine aboriginal owned land. How depressing. If you are opposed to this land being degraded by such actions, sign our petition and voice your concerns to the Northern Territory Minister for Natural Resources, Environment and Heritage and Minister for Parks and Wildlife -Mr Karl Rio Hampton MLA. As well as the current Federal Minister for the Environment- The Hon Tony Burke MP.

Help us be a voice for this most unique and beautiful national park, sign our petition.

Dear Minister,

It has been brought to my attention that iron ore exploration by Western Desert Resources (www.westerndesertresources.com.au) in the proposed Limmen National Park has been executed.

Just what we need another huge mine on pristine aboriginal owned land. How depressing.
We urge you to take a stand on this issue and put in place the actions required to have this beautiful and unique area declared a National Park of Australia.
