We are in dire need of your help to put an end to injustice that is occuring in our country. Laws enacted to protect victims of the horrific crimes of domestic violence are being misused by citizens and law enforcement. In this process, innocent lives are being destroyed. Not only can someone be falsely accused, they have no voice against it. The burden of proof is being thrown out. The accuser can be a mentally disturbed individual using these laws for revenge against someone who simply wishes to dissolve the relationship.
The accused in such cases are automatically arrested and injunctions are set in place leaving them with no home, no employment, no personal belongings and no access to their children. This can all be put in place strictly on emotion!! We are in no way asking for revocation of the laws that protect true victims of domestic violence.
We want these laws to be revisited and indications made to allow for criminal and civil prosecution when someone has misused these laws in a vengeful and vindictive way.
We, the undersigned, call on the US Congress to revise the laws against false domestic violence allegations.
Something must be done to prevent those who would lie about being a victim of domestic violence to continue to do so.
We ask that indications be made to allow for criminal and civil prosecution against someone who has misused these laws in a vengeful and vindictive way.
