Restore funding to the Vancouver School Board and promote learning opportunities
The Liberal Government has recently withdrawn more funding to education in BC thereby forcing School Boards to cut more programs and services to students in order to meet balanced budgets.
In BC the student/educator ratio is the highest in Canada, per capita spending is lower than other provinces and has not kept up with inflation and the number of teachers has gone down significantly since 2001.
Children bear the burden of the cuts and their future will be affected if funds are not restored.
We, the undersigned, petition the Honorable Margaret MacDiarmid and the Provincial Government to restore funding to the Vancouver School Board for programs our students need, want and deserve to have.
These programs include Strings, Band, Counseling, and Supports for students requiring learning assistance and students with special needs.
