Myself and other families who have children or adults with special needs, have notice that there isn't a adequate public changing areas. For our family members who have special needs. Due to this fact, it can be challenging to change individuals who are unable to support themselves by standing.

Other medical reasons may prohibit individuals from being potty trained. Public restrooms do not accommodate families like ours. The baby changing tables are too small. Some are located in the open area of the restroom. We are requesting for larger changing tables to be installed. The installation of these table would be for public family restrooms.

This would provide privacy and adequate room for the individual which they deserve and their family. The installation of these larger tables would allow families to enjoy their time out longer. They would not have to feel rushed or pressured to end their outings.

"We the undersigned appeal to the local and stat level government of Ohio in requesting installation of larger changing tables in public family restrooms. This upgrade falls under the ADA guidelines prohibiting discrimination and ensures equal opportunity for persons with disabilities in public accommodations and commercial facilities".

The ADA regulation for title 3 states as printed in the code of federal regulations(7/1/94). The department of justice's regulation implementing title 3 of the ADA, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in "places of public accommodations". (Businesses and non-profit agencies that serve the public) and "commercial facilities" (other businesses).

The regulation includes Appendix A to part 36- standards accessible design establishing minimum standards for ensuring accessibility when designing and constructing a new facility or altering an existing facility. These statements can be found at www.ada.gov under regulations and technical assistance materials.
