Stop the Cuts at the Student Loans Company

Thank you to everyone who signed and supported the campaign.
We the undersigned oppose the proposed job cuts in the Student Loans Company in Glasgow. Losing up to 200 jobs during this time of recession would have an extremely detrimental effect on the city.
We ask for your direct intervention to ensure the following:
• That there are no compulsory redundancies enforced in the Student Loans Company. Furthermore to adhere to the national agreements between public sector unions and the Cabinet Office in relation to the avoidance of compulsory redundancies.
• To ensure the 45 jobs earmarked for transfer to Darlington remain in Glasgow. There is absolutely no savings for the tax payer and in fact would cost up to £500,000. To enforce a change like this on top of an additional 150 job cuts is completely insensitive and uneconomical.
• To consider reinstating all or some of the departmental budget reductions imposed upon the Student Loans Company in order to save vital jobs.
