South Plainfield, NJ

United States of America

The South Plainfield Board of Education has permanently locked the gate on the access road on the side of the high school near the gym. It has been closed to traffic 24 hours a day 7 days a week since September 2009. This road was recently paved by the board and can no longer be used by vehicles.

After paving the parking lot that exists between the middle school and high school during the summer of 2009, the board has now constructed a permanently locked gate between the two schools that closes off traffic 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

We, the undersigned, call on the South Plainfield Superintendent of Schools to unlock these two gates during non-school hours to:

1) permit a reasonable flow of traffic through these areas and around the schools for drop off and picking up of students;

2) maintain adequate access for emergency vehicles for the safety of our children;

3) provide residents that live near the schools relief from the increased flow of traffic;

4) provide parents and with a less time consuming commute through these areas.
