Stop the Expansion of Vivisection and Industrial Biotech in Palm Beach County
Scripps research center is entering phase two in a project that will create a biotech city on the Briger Tract, an 800 acre pine flatwoods ecosystem, in northern Palm Beach County.
The Briger tract also exhibits wetland habitats and is home to nesting bald eagles, osprey and several endangered species of plants and animals, including the federally protected gopher tortoise. Should Scripps move forward, the Briger Tract will be cleared.
Sripps is already involved in vivisection, as well as manipulation of infectious disease and genetic engineering of food crops and pharmaceuticals. These types of bioengineering will bring increased health risks and environmental degradation to our families and community.
We oppose the Scripps research center and the destruction of the Briger tract, which is one of the few remaining pine wood ecosystems in our region.
We believe true health and healing comes not from industrialized biomedical complexes but from intact forests that provide clean air, clean water, and natural medicine.
We STRONGLY URGE the Council Members of Palm Beach Gardens to take action against this proposition.
