On many occasions the internet connection has been down, mostly during the weekends when people need it the most. Our second resort would be using the computer labs that are located on the second, third, fourth, and fifth floors, but on rare occasions the doors are open or are without internet as well.
The computer labs are always cold and uncomfortable making it hard to study. Our final resort would be to walk to the computer lab to use the computers, but at what cost? The labs are closed at midnight, we could go to other dorms but are only allowed in at certain times, and the internet comes and goes when it wants. When the labs are down we are force to drive or take public transportation to a local library.
Some get frustrated and drive forty-five minutes to three hours home. Some people don’t have cars and live in other states, such as New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, and even California. All of us rely on the internet to do assignments and when it is down, we face the challenge of getting it done or failing. Only a small percent of us have “understanding teachers.” It is now finals week and we are facing a BIG crossroad at this point. On the campus website, Wi-Fi is promised.
There is NO Wi-Fi ever available in the building. The website makes it look so glamorous, but in reality it is a major headache.
As residents of CMRC we would like these certain demands met:
• Internet connection fixed throughout Christa McAuliffe Residential Community.
• Wi-Fi available.
• Access to the computer labs 24/7.
• Printers placed in the computer lab (for those who need them and residents supplying their own paper for the machine).
As residents of Christa McAuliffe Residential Community, we are concerned about many of our amenities that aren’t being fulfilled. During the school year there have been a lot of complaints about internet not being provided in suites.
Since we pay between $3950-4070 a semester, we as residents should be able to have access to the things we pay for whenever we want. How is it that everyone else has internet access before we do?
Many of us rely on internet connection in our rooms to be able to do homework in a comfortable and relaxing setting.
