Say "No" to the Taxpayer Funded Music City Convention Center

This petition was published by NotDaveCooley on Sep 28, 2009

We the undersigned are opposed to a publicly funded convention center. We believe now is not the time for Nashville to gamble on what would be the largest capital project in our city’s history, nearing $1 billion dollars and counting.

We doubt the optimistic economic forecasting, and fear poor attendance will put Nashville taxpayers on the hook. We are alarmed at the $80 million dollars this project has already cost taxpayers. We disagree with the use of eminent domain. We question the management of this project when multiple vendors are upwards of 400% over their budgets.

Finally, we insist on a public vote of the people if this were to move forward. We urge the Council to vote against this project.
