In July 2009, developers Welbeck/Persimmon Homes proposed to build 400+ dwellings on Greenfield land to the south of Folders Lane. That proposal can be viewed here:

The two sites in the developer’s documents (referred to as Site H West and Site H East) are reported to be capable of accommodating up to 1,000+ dwellings.

Since then, land to the south of Folders Lane has again been put forward for development, when in 2010 Bellway Homes submitted a planning application for dwellings in the land to the rear of 60a – 78 Folders Lane. This application was refused however further applications could be made and this shows that developers are always circling. The details of that application along with the letters written by many of this petition’s signatories can be viewed here:

Local residents would of course be affected by any inappropriate development of land to the south of Folders Lane and should therefore take action now to show their support for such inappropriate proposals by supporting the South of Folders Lane Action Group (SOFLAG) and signing our online petition.

The latest information we have on any developments for the land to the south of Folders Lane will be posted on our website:

We, the undersigned, call on the Mid Sussex District Council to prevent inappropriate development of land to the south of Folders Lane.

The Prevent Inappropriate Development South of Folders Lane, Burgess Hill petition to Mid Sussex District Council was written by South of Folders Lane Action Group and is in the category City & Town Planning at GoPetition.
