Mousavi, the favorite to win the Iranian election, lost by a landslide to Ahmadinejad. There is much speculation that this election was rigged by the Iranian government. Mousavi was put under arrest by the Iranian government for demanding a recount of the election in Iran. When interviewed by Christiane Amanpour whether Mousavi would be not harmed, Ahmadinejad refused to answer the question.

Right now the biggest demonstration in Iran is taking place since the Iranian Revolution in 1979. Students are putting their lives on the line protesting in Iran for their votes to be counted. They are demanding that Mousavi be released and a recount be issued. Many Iranian military officers are brutally attacking these protesters as can be seen in pictures of the uprising all over the Internet.

We, the people concerned about the civil rights violations in Iran, call on the Iranian government to have a recount of the election votes, which will be supervised internationally.

In addition, we demand that Mousavi be freed, and that the physical abuse of protesters in Iran ceases.
