Background (Preamble):
Political party violence in March 2009 led to the banning of the two radio broadcasting stations owned by the All Peoples Congress (APC) and the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP). Since that time, both parties have shown their strong desire for Peace Building in Sierra Leone by signing up to a Peace Communique on April 2nd 2009.
However, the radio broadcasting equipment used by both parties lies unused.
The United Artists for Peace Concert on June 13 2009 is a clear indication that music is an effective peace building tool.
Therefore, granting this humble request will show support and ongoing committment for peace building in Sierra Leone.

We the undersigned, call on the APC and the SLPP parties to grant FoSMIS their radio broadcasting equipment for the primary purpose of operating a radio broadcasting station that promotes Sierra Leone music, Sierra Leonean artists and the Salone music industry at large.
