Professional Photographer Licensing

We the undersigned call on the Florida Legislature to pass a Bill to License Professional Photographers in the State of Florida. For too long Professional Photographers have suffered Financial loss due to the increasing popularity of the digital age.

The Professional Photographers of Florida demand that our profession be recognized in a manner equal to it’s Professional counter parts. Any photographic student or amateur shutterbug can print a business card without any proof of skills or Education whatsoever. this in an injustice that has gone on too long. unlike the Medical profession, plumber or Electrician who are respected as professionals in the fields because of their Education and or training and are therefore required to stand a proficiency and be Licensed. We the undersigned demand no less, as Photography is a Profession in it's own right.

Photography is more than a art form for many it is a Career and means of financial support . We do not wish to impede on the Artist or casual Hobbyist. We respectfully ask for Licensing to be mandated for those wishing to pursue Photography Professionally or as a means of Income. Weather that income is Financial or trade Any Photographer applying for License shall have proof of at least four years of Business License as a photographer or a two year Degree in the Photographic arts or a four year degree in the photographic arts or documented proof of being employed by a professional photographer for a period of three years. An Exam must be taken in order to receive professional Photographers License.

A board of Photographic Professionals shall be appointed to oversee, regulate, administer exams, License those individuals seeking to enter the field of Professional Photography. Photographers having a Business License for the express purpose of Photographer prior to May 1, 2009 for a period two years shall be " grandfathered in" without exemption.
