Target:
South Point Subdivison in the State of Louisiana, Parish of Livingston
Region:
United States of America

South Point Subdivision was established in the year of 2002 in Denham Springs, Louisiana. Every since its formation, the streets of the subdivision have been used by oversized trucks and vehicles resulting in the wear and tear of the streets. This problem is getting worse daily, and we propose to have South Point Subdivision's streets deemed as "NO TRUCK ROUTE" as per (Ord. No. 97-10, §§ 1--4, 7-10-97) Not only will this make the neighborhood a better place to live, without the fear of oversized vehicles racing down the roadway, but it will also save the Parish a substantial amount of money.

We are constantly contacting the Parish to come out and fix potholes created by these monstrous vehicles from driving up and down the road way of the subdivision, as a thru street for their personal gain. Being that the subdivision has no sidewalks built in it, it is just unsafe, and unsound to continue to allow the trucks not serving a purpose to travel the roads of South Point on a daily basis.

Sec. 10-11. No truck routes.
(a) It shall be unlawful for any person to operate a truck of a size of more than one (1) ton on any road/street where a sign has been erected specifying "NO TRUCK ROUTE" by the Parish of Livingston giving notice thereof and prohibiting such operation.
(b) The prohibitions contained in subsection (a) shall not apply to fire and emergency vehicles, commercial garbage, refuse or trash removal vehicles including waste removal vehicles, public and private utility vehicles (including electric, gas, telephone and cable television vehicles), nor shall it be applicable to any person driving a truck making a delivery or pickup of merchandise, goods or equipment in an area where it would be necessary for the vehicle to use the road/street in the ordinary course of business.
(c) "No truck routes" will be established by a majority vote of the Livingston Parish Council.
(d) Violation of this section shall constitute a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00) or a term of imprisonment of not more than thirty (30) days in the parish jail, or both.
(Ord. No. 97-10, §§ 1--4, 7-10-97)

We, the undersigned, call upon the Parish of Livingston, to eliminate the use of the roads of South Point Subdivision as a thru street for the oversized trucks in the area.

Please take into consideration that we feel that our tax dollars should go to something more beneficial, than to repairing the same roads monthly, because of a simple problem that can be easily solved. By instating (Ord. No. 97-10, §§ 1--4, 7-10-97) in South Point Subdivision, it will make the streets of our quant community more safe, and user friendly.

It is to the point where potholes have gotten out of control, and now the residents have to drive through them destroying their personal vehicles. The streets of our subdivision also need to be overlaid. They are in very bad shape.

By doing a complete overlay of the roads, this will make them last longer due to the simple fact that the roads will all be brought up to an acceptable condition.
