I have gone through a lot in my life. I come from poverty and sexual abuse which led me to drug abuse. I started using drugs at the age of 10. When I was 21, I became pregnant and was excited to have a chance to make life right for myself as well as my daughter. I stopped getting high while pregnant but after having my child, I would take the time that she was with my mother to get high on weed, pills, and cocaine. I got into a fight with an ex friend and she called cps. They illegally entered my home and removed my baby. She was the only good thing about my life. After an up and down struggle with cps my rights were terminated because I admitted to using marijuana. I stopped everything else but had a weak moment. I've been doing the drugs for 14 years and it's hard to stop cold turkey. I did everything else they asked of me. I don't think it's right that they can give my daughter to anyone else just because I used. I'm not perfect. I never used around her and they didn't prove that she was ever harmed by my actions. I'm going up for an appeal. Please sign and help me show the judge that I just need a little more time to get my life together.
We, the undersigned, call on the courts to overturn the decision that was made to terminate the rights of Yolanda G. Howard. We feel that with a little more time she could meet all requirements, including random drug testing and anything else needed for her daughter to be returned to her. Please take into consideration that we are all human and a 14 year old habit can be hard to break. Please find it in your heart to grant her another chance to prove that she can stay clean and continue to be a loving mother to her child. God Bless!!
