Investigate official misconduct by police officers at Chicago Police 24th District
- Target:
- Media, attorneys, civil rights organizations
- Region:
- United States of America
Arrested by Chicago Police in Walgreens parking lot after false accusations that I reached into a moving car in front of Walgreens at Howard and Western.
The vehicle was occupied by two front seat occupants. A witness was in front of the store. I was denied a phone call to my attorney after a Detective (name available to internal affairs) said "Your lawyer can't do anything for you. We have to work through this first", at which time I was also informed that if I did not cooperate I would be taken to jail. Interrogation continued from 7 pm until 2 am the following morning at which time the states's attorney came and wrote a confession which I was coerced into signing.
I was told I needed to sign the confession to be able to call an attorney. Arresting officers: (names available to internal affairs)
We the undersigned call for an immediate investigation of violation of my civil rights due to officers coercing a confession in exchange for phoning an attorney and false arrest as my Miranda rights were not read to me.
