Background (Preamble):
The sale of Federal Government properties especially in Lagos to private concerns during Obasanjo government led to the concessioning of Eric Moore towers, Surulere to Dock Management Services Ltd. Since then, the properties have been partitioned indiscriminately with the primary purpose of carving out space to build an event centre at the expense of existing access road to Eric Moore road via Bishop Howell street. In the process, the estates and adjoining residents have been denied central water storage facilities installed by Federal Government and the overall aesthetics of the beautiful towers have been destroyed. To further compound the problems, the concessionaire has consistently used his political clout and influence as PDP chieftain to unleash "area boys" and OPC militia to intimidate residents and whenever his interest is challenged. The event centre which is currently at an advanced stage of completion is expected to increase the environmental noise load in the area as it joins the long list of social clubs in the once serene residential heartland of Surulere.
Petition:
We, the undersigned, fervently pray that the Lagos State Governor, His Excellency; Chief Raji Fashola (SAN) , Chief Justice of Lagos State and the Assistant Inspector General Police Lagos State, prevail upon the said Chief Moshood CEO of Messrs Salvadore Nig. Ltd and his agents henceforth desist from:
1) continued partitioning of the common access road between Bishop Howell and Eric Moore street as if it part of his private property;
2) defacing the Federal Government Properties, adjoining environment and common utilities entrusted to his company the subsisting concession agreement thereby constituting nuisance to residents and visitors to the property.
3) indiscriminate use of contracted area boys and OPC militia to harass residents and their wards whenever his selfish interests are been challenged;
4) using his political clout to arrest and detain with impunity, staff of the property management company going about their lawful business activities
We also implore the appropriate authorities to prevail upon this man and his agents to stop the construction of the event centre and restore with immediately effect, the Eric Moore/Games Village central water storage tanks which was dismantled in the process of erecting the event centre.
